This 1956 Continental MKII was purchased by Henry Ford II, brother of Benson and William Clay Sr, for his wife. This early model Continental came to us as a haphazard project in pieces and boxes. It received a complete frame off restoration. Its arrival condition required metal work much more significant than that of his brother Benson. All metal work was done to a level to match the original design. The frame was completely assembled with the overhauled 368ci engine, transmission and all drive train components, run and checked prior to reinstalling the body. The car is black with a cloth top. The grey broad cloth and black leather with red piping interior was completely redone to the original design and material types by Tom McFadden of “Bitchin Stitchin of Central Florida”. The chrome was redone at “Sherms Custom Plating” in Sacramento, California. It debuted in the 2010 Amelia Island Concourse de’Elegance pictured above. There it joined the other family Continentals of Benson (green), William Clay Sr. (Honolulu Blue), and Eleanor Ford (powder blue) for the first time. In 2013 the car was chosen to be the poster vehicle for the 63rd Pebble Beach Concourse de’Elegance and to be on display at verious venues during the event.
